We’ve got company.

Okay. Wow. I’m really bad at updating anything in the world, aren’t I? Including fansites and other places. Then again, I always bite off more than I can chew. At least I start stuff? :D;

Here’s a really random (big!) sketch dump from the first semester of my college sophomore year. This isn’t all of what I’ve been doodling, I probably have a couple more. I still need to make a sketchdump of the doodles I did in my freshman year!

I probably won’t make as many comments as I used to, since I think that’s why it takes me so long to do updates. Just a heads-up in case anyone wonders why I’m not as much of a babblefish as I usually am.

This is how I am most of the time. Durp. :B

In which I delay, ufu.

Frequent updates turn into ‘what happened to once a week’.

Yes this is a banker. Supposed to be leaning on a glass wall. Except without it he looks more like he’s yelling “GOD DAMN KIDS ON MY GOD DAMN LAWN”. THIS IS ALL ’s FAULT I DON’T EVEN WATCH THIS SHOW. I still need to add a background, but I’m not sure how to go about it.

I need to get drawing again! Easily distracted self is easily distracted.

Eee. I’m so happy to be drawing like mad again! Now if only my hand didn’t ache so much right now because of online enlistment…

This time, we have a few quick realism sketches, Less Talk, More Robots art (one of Nathan, and one of Glynn), a Daft Punk sketch (as humans~ ♥), some inking practice, and more webcomic style experimentation… as usual.

Here we go: some inking practice, because I watched Steven Sanchez’s Inking Tutorial. I never thought of doing it that way unless I was doing some dramatic shading. :D

What’s this? An update?

Posted by Dia Aren Marie Under comics, concepts/ideas, fan art, original, practice sketches on Saturday May 10, 2008

Well, what do you know! An update that isn’t a week after!

I’m trying to get out of my drawing rut. Hence, lots of doodles.

In this update, I have some style experimentation, some of which are for the hopefully upcoming webcomic, and some fan-art for the games Sonic, Klonoa, and Silhouette Mirage.

Tails! ♥ In a fit of sleeplessness, hunger, and with caffeine in my system… somehow, my wrist and drawing movements became much more loose and ‘free’. I’ve always ‘known’ from teachers telling me that drawing quickly and more loosely brings out more life in drawing, but… this is the first time I’ve really experienced it. Funny, considering how much I like to quick doodle.

But before that, here are some sketches from yesterday morning: how I usually doodle.

In which we experiment with style.

Uh. Let’s pretend I’m not a day late, since my Remember the Milk list isn’t screaming “OVERDUE!” at me.

Among the novel-length list of things I’d like to accomplish in my lifetime, one of them would be “make a webcomic.” After years of delay, I might finally have capacity to make a decent one. Hoorah!

All things considered (time and energy being some of them), I doodled a little bit to try and decide on what style I should use. I’m aiming for aesthetically pleasing while relatively simple and not too time-consuming. If I go my usual way, I’ll probably never update on time!

Just one of a couple of styles I’m thinking on. And, of course, I’m using myself as a guinea pig. I don’t really think anyone I know would like to be butchered by my hand. :[

Can it be random doodle time now?

Posted by Dia Aren Marie Under concepts/ideas, fan art, original, sketches on Wednesday Apr 30, 2008

Euhhh, I know I’m late again. :< I was meaning to post this as soon as we got home, but oh well. Just a few things I doodled while I was away on a sorta-not-really vacation.

Hi me. I’m not that pretty. D: I brought along my Crayola colored pencils. Verdict I’ve known a long time ago: not for serious business shading, since it’s difficult to blend them in, but they’re good for light fluffy shading or solid colors (which I should’ve done instead, but oh well.)

Daft Punk Doodle Post, go!

Posted by Dia Aren Marie Under fan art, silly doodles, sketches on Monday Apr 21, 2008

Yipes, I’m late, but that’s because I couldn’t decide what to update with. That’s the irony of it all - set aside a lot of little doodles, but then be unable to choose which ones to update with.

Anywho, I’ve decided to gather all of my Daft Punk doodles (the ones I’ve scanned in, anyway) and make one big post. A lot of these I’ve already posted to . All of these were done over the course of my 2nd semester in college. Yes, I’m bad and did these in class. Let’s go!

More Than = > = ♥

A warning: please do not take any of the doodles here seriously. None of them are for serious. Peace, Daft Punk. \m/

I think that I shall never see…

… a tree that is f@#$’ed up as thee!

So! I’m actually keeping with the updates! Hahaha!

Today, I’ll be showing some progress shots of my FA13 Watercolor and Felt Tip Tree Plate, which I showed a WIP of a few entries back. It’s nowhere near perfect, but I’m just glad I finished that thing.

This was what I showed you guys the last time. Cropped, but it’ll do. Very basic watercolor base. I laid out a light yellow on everything but the walls to ‘bring the color out more.’ After that, I laid on the colors by layers. I’d put on one color layer, then let that dry, then layer on another of the same color, and so on. After that, I’ll pick a darker shade or a different color altogether and place a little bit of that to show depth.
