2010-resolutions

The original, blank template can be found here.

Ignore that one box is missing. I’ve been moving them around. I’ve only managed to think up two so far. I’m still going to be fixing those thumbnails up. What am I doing? I’m not just taking this up… I’m taking it up in conjunction with the things I already owe people. Two birds with one stone! Ha!

This will work. It will because I will make myself work. Ahahaha.

PUMP UP THE JOY 2009

I finished the sketch from the last entry! Do check it out if you can. :) It’s never too late to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year~!

Kind of spoils the surprise, but hey, look! Second day of my attempt at drawing more often, and I think it’s going swimmingly. Even if they’re for drawing memes on dA. I’ve never finished one of those, you know? I still remember the first one by… Nyu, I believe? I only got up to the second or third question.

So far, the meme on the top has been a lot of fun, even if it takes me an hour (or more!) just to sketch and ink one answer. That’s because I’ve been using reference and being super OCD to make up for the lack of practice this year. Can I still call them doodles if they take me that long? They’re still not exactly professional or polished work, but they’re pretty much there…

The meme on the bottom, I’m just about to get back to. I think for this one, I’ll try to finish all the sketches first before I begin inking. Let’s see if it works.

OH WHAT THE-

Posted by Dia Aren Marie Under concepts/ideas, fan art, sketches on Saturday May 2, 2009

It’s been a month since I last posted?! Seriously? Holy crap, I didn’t even know.

Have some Black Jack frontal bust shots (in slightly different styles) and those few sketches I promised last update.

Practice! Was going to be my sample for Super Charity Go. ^^;

Something I sketched up while I was at the UP AME caricature booth at the Shizen Orchestra last April 25, 2007. :) Pretty proud of both of these.

I finally got the chance to scan in the last of my sketches for this challenge. While I bombed the challenge, it turns out I sketched a lot less than I thought I did! Maybe the rest was schoolwork. Weird.

Apologies but I am down with some form of flu/cold right now so I don’t have much to say. There’s at least one thing here I haven’t scanned (finishing it up) and these aren’t in order but here we go.

Black Jack sketch! Was supposed to be for my personal 10media challenge, but I think I’ll change it. Still, I want to try rendering this in ink wash anyway.

Day 5: Lots of random doodles while I was talking to my friends/classmates about things like horror games… and reviewers, like the Angry Video Game Nerd, Nostalgia Critic, and Yahtzee. I have unusual fandoms. :)

Draw Everyday February Challenge: Days 2-4

Denise & Mahavir.

Denise & Mahavir.

This month is February Draw Everyday Challenge, and here’s my first few days… this one for the second of February (in terms of ‘it’s specifically for the challenge’).

Miss Management fan-art! I love this game so much. I recently ‘beat’ in that I got tired trying to get the 3-Star ratings in those almost impossible stages. This style is so much fun.

The girl is Denise, the office manager and your character in the game. She’s holding a choco-caffino and a cinnabun, two items in the game that help keep your employees’ stress levels down. (Yes, that is a chocolate bar shoved into a cup of coffee.) The guy is Mahavir, the first employee you get to know. He’s an average joe… who has an English Degree from Harvard, IIRC. He’s the office flirt and loves lazing on the couch, but by jove, he’s adorable.

I somehow got a piece of rice stuck on Mahavir’s hair… leaving unsightly dirty marks on him. :[ So I decided to ink him… and now I’m trying to experiment with it a bit since I fudged up so much. Will post the results up soon!

Yo~!

HELLO!

Same guy from one of my last posts. His name is DJ Blue Sky. I think I’m getting a little somewhere with his design, but I’ll have to look up that fancy thang you people call “fashion” so I can really bring out whatever idea for him is swimming around in my head. :D

I also need to draw more full-body figures that are in action. I know he looks a bit stiff. I’ll try using reference next time I don’t draw him during class breaks.

I will try to get some photos of my figure drawing plates up soon!

Just because I didn’t want to write “WHY SO SERIOUS?”. I swear that line is so overused. As someone who has cosplayed him, I know. And I can’t count how many times people flung the expression at me. Y SO UNORIGINAL? :|

This is a request for Saave on LJ. Crosshatching plus light stroke practice, because I tend to dig into the paper and/or shade too dark. Hence, ballpoint pens to force myself to go lighter. How do you guys do it? It’s even worse when I’m using charcoal!

I’m thinking of slapping some colors onto this. What do you guys think?

I sketched this up real quick. Yes, it’s Michael Jackson in his Smooth Criminal attire. :P I’m actually pretty pleased how it turned out for being done real fast. I think I might take it to the lightbox for inking. I need to use that thing more to justify its existence. ^^;

I think I’m getting the hang of Figure Drawing. Still not perfect (who is?), but the stuff my professor keeps drilling me on is finally taking effect… I hope. :P

We’ve got company.

Okay. Wow. I’m really bad at updating anything in the world, aren’t I? Including fansites and other places. Then again, I always bite off more than I can chew. At least I start stuff? :D;

Here’s a really random (big!) sketch dump from the first semester of my college sophomore year. This isn’t all of what I’ve been doodling, I probably have a couple more. I still need to make a sketchdump of the doodles I did in my freshman year!

I probably won’t make as many comments as I used to, since I think that’s why it takes me so long to do updates. Just a heads-up in case anyone wonders why I’m not as much of a babblefish as I usually am.

This is how I am most of the time. Durp. :B
